Shareablee , the web-based data platform that provides actionable insights into the action sports community, released their report on the Top 10 U.S. Sports Media Brands in March 2016.

The ranking, which includes all sports-related media properties’ main flagship pages and ancillary pages, reflects a total of 287 million social actions across Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube (excluding views). This was a 45 percent year over year growth, driven by a 278 percent increase in video engagement. Engagement on video content accounted for 25 percent of total social actions. Sports media brands represented 4 percent of all social actions taken on content published by U.S. brands in March.

ESPN ranked number one overall with 137.3 million total social actions, topping Facebook with 29.2 million actions, Twitter with 10 million actions and Instagram with 98.1 million actions. ESPN also captured the most social amplification (shares and retweets) of any media brand with 5.8 million shares and retweets on Facebook and Twitter. Bleacher Report captured the most Facebook video actions at 5.7 million. FOX Sports ranked number one on YouTube with 238 thousand actions excluding views. ESPN saw the largest growth of any Top 10 sports media brand at 4 percent, driven by SportsCenter’s 11 percent growth in March compared to February.

- The Top Five Sports Media Brands on Facebook: ESPN (29.2 million actions), FOX Sports (23.6 million actions), Bleacher Report (12.9 million actions), Turner Sports (7.5 million actions), CBS Sports (6.5 million actions)
- The Top Five Sports Media Brands on Twitter: ESPN (10 million actions), Bleacher Report (5 million actions), Turner Sports (1.3 million actions), FOX Sports (1.3 million actions), Barstool Sports (441 thousand actions)
- The Top Five Sports Media Brands on Instagram: ESPN (98.1 million actions), Bleacher Report (21.9 million actions), The Enthusiast Network (14.2 million actions), Turner Sports (9.7 million actions), beIN Media Group (3.4 million actions)
- The Top Five Sports Media Brands ranked by video engagement: ESPN (27.1 million actions), Bleacher Report (20.4 million actions), FOX Sports (5.9 million actions), Turner Sports (5.9 million actions), The Enthusiast Network (5.2 million actions).
